The Company* was organized in 1961 and, through its subsidiaries, is primarily  engaged in three business segments: the Real Estate business operated by AMREP  Southwest Inc. and its subsidiaries (collectively, "AMREP Southwest"), and the  Fulfillment Services and Newsstand Distribution Services businesses operated by  Kable Media Services, Inc. and its subsidiaries (collectively, "Kable"). Data  concerning industry segments is set forth in Note 17 of the notes to the  consolidated financial statements.
